Ensure you are a Slack admin. This is required to add the Hook app to your Slack workspace.
Navigate to Integrations in Hook (https://app.hook.co/configuration/integrations). You will see the screen below. Click the + Add integration button.
2. Select the Slack integration from the list.
3. Click Authenticate with Slack and follow the instructions.
The Hook bot is added to your Slack workspace when authenticating this connection.
4. Once complete please inform the Hook team. You will be redirected to the following screen once the connection has been established.
5. Add the Hook bot to the Slack channels where you'd like Hook to access conversation data.
Go to the channel you'd like to add the bot to.
@mention the bot (@Hook) and select Enter.

6. (Required for Hook AI agents like Echo) Map each Slack channel to a customer account in your CRM.
For Hook's AI agents (Echo, briefs, signal detection) to use Slack conversations for the right account, each channel needs to be linked to its corresponding customer record. This is done by adding the Slack channel ID as a field on the account / company record in your CRM.
Note: this step is only needed for AI-agent context. Sending Slack notifications, alerts or messages FROM Hook to a channel via automations does NOT require this mapping. That works with just the bot connection set up above.
Salesforce: Add a custom field on the Account object. Suggested name: slack_channel_id (no hook_ prefix, so your team can also use it for your own internal purposes). Set it up as a list / multi-value field so you can store more than one channel ID per account (useful for accounts with, for example, an exec channel plus a support channel).
HubSpot: Same on the Company object. Create a property called slack_channel_id, set up as multi-value if you want more than one channel per account.
Finding the Slack channel ID: In Slack, open the channel, click the channel name at the top of the message pane, and scroll to the bottom of the About tab. The channel ID looks like C08DFPN4687 (starts with C, followed by 8 to 10 alphanumeric characters).
