Hook allows you to send emails directly from the platform using your connected email account. Emails can be sent using automations and when completing actions. This guide covers how to connect your email, set up your signature, and configure email aliases.
How to Connect Your Email to Hook
Step 1: Go to Profile Settings
To connect your Google account, navigate to Profile Settings:
Click your profile name in the top navigation bar.
Select Profile settings.
Step 2: Connect Your Email Account
Note: GMail is currently the only supported provider. Outlook support is coming soon.
Hook uses Nylas (our email connector) to securely connect your email and the platform.
In Profile settings click Connections.
Click Connect.
A Sign in with Google window will appear. Choose the account you wish to use with Hook.
Review the permissions. Google will ask to allow Nylas access to your name, profile picture, and email address.
Click Continue to finalise the connection.
Once complete, your email account is connected and ready to send messages from Hook.
Set Your Email Signature
Once your account is connected, you can manage how your outgoing emails look directly within Hook. Each connected email address can have its own customised email signature. Your email signature from Google will not automatically be transferred when sending emails from Hook.
In Profile settings > Connections, you will now see your connected email address.
Click the Edit button next to the configured email address.
βA dialogue will open where you can edit your signature.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Using Email Aliases
Email aliases allow you to send from alternative email addresses associated with your main account.
You must first set up aliases in your Gmail account before adding them to Hook.
Learn how to create aliases in GMail here.
Adding Aliases in Hook
Go to Profile settings > Connections.
Click + New alias.
Enter the email address of the alias ensuring it exactly matches that of the alias configured in GMail.
Add a Display name and email signature for this alias.
Click Save.
Your alias will now be visible to use on any draft email within Hook.
β οΈ The email addresses added in Hook must exactly match the aliases configured in GMail. Mismatched addresses may cause messages to fail to send.
